Spring Sandals

Good Morning!  Can not believe it is the eve of my most favorite month of the year.  I love, love, love April!  The weather in our area is usually so pleasant and everything is so green and blooming.  It's all so pretty.  And with that warm spring weather, I get to finally pull out my favorite sandals.  While doing a little online shopping yesterday, I noticed that these now come in four colors.  I bought mine at the end of summer last year, and they were only available in the nude color.  Really crushing on the black and gray options.  Love the slight wedge and strappy design.  They zip in the back and are really comfortable.  You can click on the pictures below shop these.

Have a great day!

Santa Fe Trip

I hope everyone had a Happy Easter!  Today I wanted to share a bit about our recent trip to Santa Fe over spring break.  It was our first time to visit there and we really enjoyed it!  A little bit different ski set up then we are used to as there is no lodging or ski in ski out places right near the slopes, but you get the added bonus of the town plaza which is filled with charm and culture.  We stayed at the Eldorado hotel and spa which is right in town and walking distance to everything.  The ski area is a gorgeous 15 mile drive up the mountain.  The picture above is taken on our drive up to the slopes.

When I called a few weeks before our trip to book ski school for the kids, the Chipmunk Corner was full.  So we ended up doing a 2 hour private lesson for both kids two days in a row, which ended up being so worth it!  They had ski for the first time last year in Tahoe, but they really got the hang of it this year.  The instructors took them straight to the lift and they never had to wait in lines, so the repetition they got was great.  The lessons also allowed Grant and I to ski a few runs together.  And then on the last day, all four of us were able to go up on the lifts together and ski several of the green slopes.  It was so nice.

We also explored some of the hiking trails and a little sledding slope.

The town plaza area is really a beautiful setting.  It has lots of fun stores to shop and delicious restaurants.  We spent part of our first day and most of our last day in the plaza.  Definitely a wonderful place to visit!

Spring Style

shirt | jeans | purse (similar here & here) | sandalssunglasses | watch (similar) | necklace

Hi there!  If you follow on Instagram, you probably already know we are spending our Spring Break in Santa Fe, both enjoying the culture of the city and getting a little skiing in as well.  While we are enjoying the snow and colder weather in New Mexico, we've had some warmer Spring-like weather back in Texas.  It's still cool in the mornings and evenings, so I love this lightweight gingham button down shirt that I picked up recently.  It's a great seasonal transition piece.  The fit is longer than most my button downs and even long enough to pair with leggings.  The sandals are a new find too and I love them!  Comfortable as can be and they also come in gold and black.  They have been a great addition to my Spring wardrobe.

After we've had some time to relax this week, we really hope to get back and decide on a house.  Hopefully a little time away will be just want we needed...I will keep you posted.  Have a wonderful day!

Easter Ideas

Hey there!  I hope everyone's week is going well.  We are one day away from Spring Break and I am so ready!  You may have noticed that things have been a little slower around my blog these days mostly due to us being in between houses right now.  I am so ready to be in a permanent house again and begin making it a home.  It's been way too long since we've tackled a good house project.  And just to quickly update you guys...we are still actively looking.  We found another one that we thought would be it, but after lots of careful consideration we felt it wasn't the best choice for us.

But until then, I will continue to share some of my favorite recipes, fashion finds, and anything else I think is helpful, yummy or pretty.  I was updating some of my tabs at the top of my blog and was amazed at how many posts I now have.  Seems like not that long ago I was just getting started.  And while organizing I found several Easter ideas that I had forgotten about, so I figured you probably did too, so I thought I would share a few of those today.  I linked the full post below each picture and for more Easter or Spring ideas you can check out my HOLIDAY tab.

I work one more day today, then we are heading to the rodeo tonight and then off for a little Spring Break trip.  Join me on Instagram so we can keep in touch while we are gone :)

St. Patrick's Day Treats

Happy March!  If you've been around awhile, you might remember these treats.  I make them every year for St. Patrick's Day and I shared the recipe last year on here.  Really easy and very similar to Rice Krispies.  The kids of course love them and they are little something special for the holiday.

Lucky Charm Treats

Ingredients
  • One 11.5 ounce box of Lucky Charm cereal
  • One 16 ounce bag of marshmallows
  • 6 tablespoons salted butter, plus extra to grease pan

Method
  1. Grease bottom and sides of 9 x 13 pan with butter.
  2. Melt butter in large pot over medium heat.
  3. Add entire bag of marshmallows and stir frequently until all are melted.
  4. Remove from heat and quickly add entire box of cereal, stirring until all ingredients are blended.  Try not to over stir as the marshmallows in the cereal will start to melt too.
  5. Transfer to greased pan and press into pan with greased spatula until evenly distributed.
  6. Allow to cool and set for 1 1/2 to 2 hours and then cut into desired squares.
Tip
  • I picked out about a 1/3 cup of the marshmallows before I started and then after I pressed the mixture into the pan, I added the marshmallows on top and gently pressed them into the mixture.  This of course just made them pretty, but the taste would still be delicious without doing this :)

Hope you enjoy!
