Fall Into The Holidays | Bedroom

Welcome back to Week 2 of the "Fall Into The Holidays" four week series.  This week we are featuring the "bedroom" and I've decided to stick with my theme from last week of easy decorating tips to spruce up the bedroom.  But this time instead of decorating for Fall or Thanksgiving, I'm sharing simple ways to decorate for the Christmas Holidays.

There were really only three things I did in our bedroom to get it ready for the Christmas Holidays...
  1. Added a red and gray plaid quilt
  2. Added the boxwood wreath and white ribbon
  3. Added some fresh red flowers to the nightstand
Quick, easy touches that really gave it a festive feel!

I have really enjoyed this series.  There has been a variety of ideas from all the participants and each one is something simple and do-able.

For more great ideas checkout the rest of the group...

ORC Guest Week 4 | Home Office Lighting

Welcome back to Week 4 of the Guest One Room Challenge series.  I'm always amazed at how fast this series goes once it gets started.  Six weeks seems like a long time when I start, but it's gone before you know it.  This week for our home office makeover I'm sharing our new light!  I'm super excited to finally change out this original fixture.  Here's a look at the new fixture below.

And here's a look at the old fixture.  A lovely boob light.

And finally the new one being installed

It looks sooooo pretty and ties in perfectly with the space!  It's also on sale for a great price...$138!  You can find it here.  I'm going to save the final look for the reveal :)

Here's a recap week by week:

We are getting close...see you back next week!

Fall Into The Holidays | Kitchen

Good Morning!  Today I'm joining a fun group of friends in a new series called "Fall Into The Holidays."  It's a 4 week series where we each share one easy project in a specific room to get ready for Thanksgiving and/or Christmas.

The first room we are featuring is the kitchen, and I decided to share easy ways to decorate for Fall or Thanksgiving in this space.

When I decorate, I love using fresh flowers and fruits and it's no different when I decorate for Fall or Thanksgiving.  Here I added a basket of mini pumpkins and Fall colored flowers.

The blue mugs and basket were Target finds a couple of years ago.

Again using live pumpkins and fresh sunflowers, I continued a some Fall touches in our breakfast room.

Really easy ideas that helped transform my kitchen into the Fall season.

Here's a look at the group of friends who are also sharing their ideas for "Falling Into The Holidays..."

ORC Guest Week 3 | Home Office Cabinet Doors

Welcome back to Week 3 of the Guest One Room Challenge series.  This week I'm sharing about the cabinet doors we built for the bottom section of our existing shelving units.  I have to keep lots marketing materials for my work so finding a place to store them was a must.

Everything fits nicely in the two bottom shelves of this bookcase, but as you can see it's not a pretty site.

To hide all of these supplies, my husband built doors to fit the bottom section of these shelves.  We went with a simple shaker style cabinet door front.  He then painted them using the same spray technique we've used for several of our furniture pieces in the past.

These pretty knobs will be he finishing touch on the doors.  The solid color gold knobs I used to replace the knobs on the gray desk I ordered.

And if you're interested, here is Week One and Week Two.

Thanks for visiting!

ORC Guest Week 2 | Home Office French Doors

Happy Thursday!  Welcome to Week 2 of the ORC guest series.  This week I'm sharing how we installed French doors to help define our home office space.  I'm assuming this room was designed to be a formal living room, so it has this large opening directly across from our dining room.  We really have no need for a formal living room and the need for an office was much more in demand.  I wanted to have the option to close off the room if needed, which these doors and side panels provide.

My husband installed these himself.  He special ordered them with the matching side panels to fill the additional space.  We looked into other types of doors (barn doors, etc.) but decided on these as the best choice to fit the traditional style of our home.

Above is a quick reminder of my overall look for this space.

Thanks for stopping by!  Check back next Thursday for a new update.  And you can catch up on Week 1 here.

One Room Challenge Guest | Home Office

It's time for another round of the One Room Challenge Guest Series!  This time our home office will be getting reworked.  If you've been reading for awhile, you may remember that I jumped on board last Spring to finish our kitchen.  If you're interested you can see our ORC kitchen makeover here:

If you're not familiar with the ORC, it is organized by Linda at Calling It Home twice a year with 20 feature bloggers and then a guest link up.  Participants pick one room to makeover in a 6 week period and each week the participants link up their projects and share their progress.  There is so much inspiration from both the featured and guest participants.

So let's jump in with before pics.

We have already made a little progress on our office making it look cute, but it really wasn't setup to really work in and store all my supplies.  When my job status change to full-time in June, I needed a more functional office.  I work a lot from home so it became more of a priority than it was in the past.

So here's what I have in mind.  We will still use our current furniture, which includes two bookcases and a file cabinet-desk.  Our old furniture will all get pushed back against the back wall and then this new gray desk will sit in front.  We will be adding french doors to close off the space from the entry and adding doors to the bottom of the bookcases.  The room will be finished off with lots of pretty details including:  this artwork, these knobs, a new rug, a new light and storage essentials.

I hope you'll follow along.  Check back every Thursday for an update!
