friday five {fall decor}

Hooray it's Friday!  I'm linking up with my favorite Friday friends again this week!  The five on Friday group (DarciNatasha, Christina, and April)and the high five for Friday link up with Lauren Elizabeth.  Because my blog was still very new last Fall and since Pinterest and the all the stores have blown up with Fall (and Christmas) décor already, I thought I would take a look back at some of my Fall projects last year.  I haven't put up any Fall decorations at my home yet this year, because I'm just not feeling it yet with the triple digit temps outside.  I'm thinking the end of September, I'll get on that.   But I am collecting ideas and pinning away!  So here goes it:

1.  First up, is my very simple Fall mantel.  I went with a white and brown color scheme adding a white pumpkin, brown bow, and reclaimed wood board with the word "togetherness" written in chalk.  I loved how simple it was!

2.  Next up was this little Fall leaf garland.  My daughter and I made it using felt leaves and twine and hung it on our front door at the beginning of Fall last year.

3.  Third was a Fall centerpiece I put together for our dining room table using a reclaimed wood plank as my table runner.

4.  Another Fall project was this Thanksgiving tablescape.  Using the reclaimed wood runner again, I added the pinecones, fresh greenery, burlap ribbon and white dishes.  The "I am thankful for"  paper was for my kiddos.  Not only did it make them think about all they have to be thankful for, but it kept them busy and seated while we finished up our meal.

5.  And finally, I made this grateful banner for Thanksgiving.  And that wraps up my Fall 2012.

Have a wonderful weekend!

style simplified boutique

Happy Wednesday!  That means there is less than 48 hours until Friday - Yay!!  Today, I am so excited to finally share this new little addition to my site! Over the past couple of weeks, I've been working on creating an on-line boutique displaying some of my favorite home and fashion finds.  I added a tab on my right side bar labeled "SHOP" where I'll round up all my favorite finds.  Many of these items are currently on my "dream wishlist," but I've included some budget friendly style finds too.  My goal is to update it weekly and hopefully find some sale items as well.   Always fun to pass along a stylish bargain!

Here's how it works -- if you hover over the item, it will give you the brand and price.  And if you're interested in seeing more details, just click the picture and it will link you directly to the store where you can purchase the item.  And that's it!  Let me know what you think!   Happy Browsing!

Hope your day is great!

washi pencils

How was  your long weekend?  Do you feel rested or like you need a day off to catch up?  I can actually say that I feel rested.  We decided to stay put this weekend and love that we didn't have any major plans.  Love weekends like that!

I've been trying to add some pretty supplies to our office desk, which lead me to this project.  I've seen so many super cute projects using this awesome tape.  This one was easy peasy...just cut the tape to your pencil length and wrap.  My particular roll was not that wide, so I actually wrapped each pencil twice.

 Has the washi tape bug bitten you?
