Preston's desk

Good morning!  Hope your weekend was enjoyable.  Preston has been asking about having a desk in his room for some time now.  We sorted of put off the idea, because his room is on the smaller size and I couldn't imagine another piece of furniture in there.  But as I have shared recently, I am makings some small changes in both kids rooms, so we revisited the desk idea.  We needed it to be small and inexpensive, so here's what we came up with.

The top shelf unit was already hanging on another wall in his room, so we moved it next to bed to create the top part of his desk area.  The writing surface Grant made and then we added some accessories to finish it off.  With several little DIYs to complete this project, we ended up spending very little.  Back to share what we did to put this together soon.

Have a great day!

five on friday {dip recipes}

Happy Friday!  That means it's time for another five on friday link up with these sweet gals (DarciNatasha, Christina, and April)!  Now with football season under way, we love to get together with friends to watch our favorite teams which means some yummy food and drinks are a must!  One of my favorite foods to make for these gatherings are dips!  I love a good dip recipe!  So that's what I thought I would share with you today.  Here are some dips I have made and shared on this little blog.  You can click the link below each picture for the recipe.

1.  warm cream cheese and bacon dip - just hearing the name, you know it's gotta be good

2.  individual seven layer dip - these are great for guest to just grab a cup and go

3.  warm mushroom spread - this one is so good served right out of the oven

4.  five layer Greek dip -- fresh veggies, kalamata olives, feta -- yes, please

5. And finally number five has nothing to do with dip.  If you popped in last week, you may remember that I was loving Kelly Ripa's new hair cut and thinking really hard about cutting mine. Well, I did! About 5-6 inches gone! Love it! It feels so much healthier.  If you're interested you can check it out here on instagram.

Have an amazing weekend!

whole wheat crepes

Good Morning!  Over the weekend, I came across this whole wheat crepe recipe and decided to give it a try.  And they were really yummy.  I sliced fresh strawberries, coated them with sugar and let them sit a bit to create a nice syrupy strawberry filling.

I liked them just like this and actually ate another one just plain, but the rest of my family, likes them sprinkled with powdered sugar or cinnamon and topped with whipped cream.  So lots of options for toppings and fillings.  Also great as a dessert!
