Flashback Friday // Christmas

Happy Friday!  Today I'm taking a look back at some of my Christmas projects from last year since my blog was still really new last Christmas.  You can click the link below each picture for the full post.  And these and more holiday ideas are all under my HOLIDAY tab at the top if you're interested.

1.  Dear Santa Letter

Dear Santa,

Thank you for coming to our house tonight.
We are celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.
Thank you Santa for the gifts you bring.
Thank you Lord for everything.

Merry Christmas,
Grant, Becky, Preston and Lyla

In our home we celebrate the birth of Christ and add the whimsy of Santa too.  To help the kids remember what's important about Christmas, we will be including this letter to Santa along with his cookies again this year.  It's short and sweet, and simple enough for them to understand :)

2.  Boxwood Christmas Mantel

3.  Silver and Gold Vignette

4.  Chalkboard Christmas Tree & DIY Pinecone Cluster

 5.  And finally our Christmas card from last year :)

Hope you have a Merry Weekend!

Also linking with the five on Friday group.  Go check out what these lovely host are up to DarciNatasha, Christina, & April.

update via instagram

Good Morning!  Here's a quick look at what's been happening around here via my instagram pictures.  Starting at the top left and moving to the right:

1 & 2 - during one of our long drives over the Thanksgiving holidays I experimented with 'A Beautiful Mess App' and really like it.  In the first picture of Lyla and I, Preston was the photographer, so neither are we centered or in position yet, but of the 10 he took this was the best one.  So I added some graphics with that app to make it look a little better :)  In the second picture, Lyla is obsessed with learning how to do a cartwheel and did at least 1000 while we were at my brother and sister-in-law's house.  I thought the hearts were perfect for all her sweet effort ;)

3 - love seeing our Christmas tree when I walk in the front door...makes he so happy.

4 -  my dessert tray for Thanksgiving (all the recipes under my FOOD tab)

5 - a favorite family picture :)

6 - started wrapping gifts this week

7 - my boxwood wreath with black and white striped ribbon...<3 it!

8 & 9 -  two of my favorite kiddos :)  Love those two to pieces!

Now off to address my Christmas cards and plan Preston's birthday.  He's a Christmas baby, so it's always fun to squeeze in a birthday this time of the year :)

Have an amazing day!

simple christmas mantel // plaid, stripes, & a boxwood

Good Morning!  Christmas is in full swing around here and we are pretty much finished with all the decorating.  Now it's time to sit back and enjoy all the pretty décor and focus on the important part of this very special time of the year.  For my mantel this year I did the same placement of my large Christmas tree (which I'll show the full reveal soon) and the three small trees as last year.  And because plaid and stripes top my list of current crushes, I incorporated them into my Christmas décor this year.  I picked up the black and white plaid throw at Old Navy for $10 and then added the black and white striped ribbon.  If you've been around here any bit, you know that simple is my style, and so I left the boxwood wreath on the mirror by itself and really love it that way.

I love our living room this time of the year.  We had cold weather last week and it was so pretty with the Christmas lights shining and the fireplace burning...just perfect.  So perfect that I may have fallin asleep here several nights in a row now ;)

Next week, I'll share my tree, so you can see how the whole space looks.

And if your interested, you can click here to see my mantel from last year :)

Merry Tuesday!
