fourth of july treats

In honor of the fourth and the heat,
cool down with a refreshing treat.

Fourth of July Popsicles

Ingredients:
2 cups BLUE Kool-Aid, Powerade or Gatorade
2 cups lemonade
2 cups cran-raspberry juice
12 craft sticks
12 5-ounce disposable cups
Instructions:
1. Divide the blue juice equally among the cups and freeze for 30 to 45 minutes.
2. Divide the lemonade equally among the cups and freeze for another 30 to 45 minutes.
3. Place a craft stick in the center of each popsicle so that it is stuck in the part that is already frozen.
4. Add the cran-raspberry juice equally and place back in freezer until solid.
5. To remove pops, run outside of cup under warm water.

Watermelon Margarita Popsicles via the comfort of cooking
Makes 6 popsicles

Ingredients
5 cups chopped seedless watermelon
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice, from 2 limes
2-3 tablespoons granulated sugar
2 tablespoons orange liqueur
1/4 cup clear tequila
6 (1/2 cup capacity) popsicle molds


Directions
Combine all ingredients in a blender; puree until smooth. Strain mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a large measuring cup, pressing on and then discarding solids. Skim off any foam; pour mixture evenly into molds. Freeze 1 hour. Insert sticks and freeze until firm, about 24 hours.

To make non-alcoholic: Replace 2 Tbsp. orange liqueur with orange juice and 1/4 cup tequila with water.
