little ladybug

Lyla was so super excited to start school on Monday!  She loves school and was so excited to see all her friends.  She's had her school bag, napmat and her outfit all picked out and ready ever since Preston started school two weeks ago :)

And because I surprised Preston with his superstar student decor and cake, I wanted to do a little something for her too.   The school she attends has an animal or insect name for each class and she is in the ladybug class this year.  So I decided to make a little ladybug banner that we could use for her first day of school picture.  And when I told her I would have a special treat for her like Preston, she insisted on helping.  So I waited until her day off on Tuesday so that we could make cupcakes together.  She is my little helper with everything.

Happy Wednesday!

super star student

I wanted to do something special for Preston as he gets ready for his first day of school tomorrow, so I decided to put together a simple "super star student" themed mantle.  I pretty much left my mantel decor as is and added this cute little framed picture of this giraffe from our playroom and made this star banner.  I love the message on the giraffe artwork, which inspired my theme.  I added the chalkboard to write his grade level and to create a fun spot for his first day of school pictures tomorrow.

I'm so glad Preston really enjoys school.  Last year when we would go somewhere for the weekend, he would say, "make sure we'll be back for school on Monday...because I don't want to miss."  I'm just soaking up his love for school, because I know it won't always be this way.  It was fun to see his excitement already at "meet the teacher night" and sweet to see him smile when he first noticed that I made these decorations just for him.  I have a surprise treat planned for him too when he gets home after his first day.

Wishing my little 1st grader good luck tomorrow, as well as any of your kiddos heading back to school!
