toy organization ~ puzzles

Happy Monday!  Hope your Thanksgiving was full of many great memories!  It was nice to take a break and relax for a few days.  I did absolutely NO shopping and just took time to enjoy the holiday.

Today I'm excited to share part three of our toy organization in our playroom.  This part involves our puzzles.  I finally got tired of all the beat up, falling apart puzzle boxes, so I decided to use this drawer system to store the kids' puzzles.  I cut the front picture from the box and included it in the drawer so they would still have a guide when putting the puzzles together.

This system has worked out really well for us.  It sits right next to our desk and mini art center in the playroom.  The drawers also come all the way out, so they can carry the whole drawer to a hard surface and put the puzzle together.

And the bright colored drawers go well with the rest of our bright, cheerful playroom.

I also spent some time cleaning out our toys last week to get ready for the new ones that will come with Christmas and my son's birthday which happens to also be on December 25 :)  So now I need to get my Christmas shopping STARTED (I have not bought one gift yet - yikes!)

What about you ~ are you ready for Christmas?  Have you started shopping or are you behind like me ;)

Enjoy your day!

  1. I tried something similar and my son just keep pulling all the drawers out and making such a huge mess! But you did such a great job and it look so darn cute..

  4. Hi! I love the puzzle idea. I'm a Mom of four boys and I have invented a toy storage product called Toy Tamers that I would love for you to check out and give me feedback. I think they would work great in your playroom. I prototyped them a couple of years ago and I'm finally trying to get them to market (in my spare time...ugh). I have them listed on Ebay and I'm in the process of listing them on Amazon and getting a website up. If you go to Ebay type in "Toy Tamer" and they should show up. Tell me what you think.
    Thanks, Kristi

  5. I can't wait to see the dress up one! Maybe I can get some inspiration for my actual closet! ;)

  6. I LOVE your well organized craft closet. I devoted the closet in my office to my four grandsons' arts & crafts projects. The boys are now 4, 5, 6, & 7 (in two different families), and "stuff" is spilling into my office. I need my office back! Your beautifully organized space is an inspiration. Tomorrow morning I will ruthlessly de-clutter--dropping excess/used/etc. into a large black bag--then with extra space and a clear idea of what I need for storage containers I will be heading to Dollar Tree. Thanks much. Love this pic of an individual serving for 7 layer Mexican dip! Clever girl.
