Star Spangled Ice Cream

To celebrate the July fourth holiday fast approaching, we enjoyed this simple, fun, festive ice cream dessert with our friends over the weekend!

I scooped the vanilla ice cream into a bowl and let it soften just a bit, until I could stir it.  Then I transferred it into these foil pans to freeze overnight.  When we were ready to have dessert, I used a star shaped cookie cutter to cut the ice cream and then topped it with red and blue sprinkles.  It was so simple, but the kids loved it!  It's amazing what shapes and sprinkles can do to plain vanilla ice cream :)

My plan for the next time I serve this, is to cut the shapes the day before and freeze.  This will speed up the serving process a bit.  Can't wait to try our other cookie cutter shapes and different sprinkles for more summer occasions.  Thinking this would also be so fun for birthday parties as well!

Have a great Monday everyone!
